PROFILE

Based on the master / apprentice model of the Renaissance painting tradition, Daniel Folta began studying classical oil painting as an apprentice under master portrait-painter and world-renowned illustrator Kevin Murphy.

Daniel established a presence in the Seton Hall community through several portrait commissions, for both private collectors and Seton Hall University’s public collection. One of these was commissioned by Dean Joyce Strawser to commemorate the Business School's founding donor, W. Paul Stillman. The other was commissioned by the Business School's Leadership students in honor of Gerald P. Buccino following his generous gift to the Leadership Center, the top-ranked leadership program in the nation.

In 2018, Daniel was commissioned for the portrait of Grand Master Edward G. Gilbert by the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of the State of New York. This portrait now hangs in the magnificently gilded Grand Lodge with equal honor alongside his fellow Past Grand Masters.

When he's not painting, Daniel enjoys outdoor activities where he connects with nature and with God. He often travels throughout the United States and Asian Countries on personal or volunteer excursions. At the core of his being, Daniel strives to live life in daily relationship with God, and to bless others with all that God has given.

The Philippines

I could tell you all about the rats, the cockroaches, the heat, the food, sleeping on the floor. . .

. . .but that's not why we came.
